My senior copywriter and I participated in 2017 Astral Media Carte Blanche for Creatives Competition and made it as a Top Finalist. Carte Blanche is a competition held annually for creatives in the creative agency industry.
PROBLEM
The mechanic is to pick a client from the roster of your agency clients and create an ad for them that will get digitally displayed in the high volume and fast traffic on one of Toronto’s highways. And for this competition, we chose Bauer as the client we had to come up an ad for. We had to create something that is aligned with Bauer’s identity as well as something that is eye-catching, but simple, so it is easy enough to absorb for the fast moving traffic on the highway.
SOLUTION
My Senior Copywriter and I came up with the idea of a weather-triggered Out of Home piece for Bauer. The digital billboard acts as a countdown clock for hockey. When the temperature drops, the image on the billboard changes to reflect the current weather. When the temperature hits zero and the ice freezes, the billboard lets you know that it’s time to hit the ice and play.
